Sensitive Skin: Needs Beyond Cleansing
Sensitive skin is a symptom-defined skin condition characterized by sensations such as stinging, burning, pruritus, pain, discomfort, and post-cleansing tightness, often with minimal or no visible signs. As cleansing is a daily routine, selecting an appropriate cleanser is essential to help preserve barrier integrity, maintain hydration, and support skin comfort.[1],[2] Sensitive skin may be triggered by environmental factors, skincare products, cleansing practices, or dermatologic treatments, making gentle skincare an important consideration. An ideal cleanser should effectively remove sweat, sebum, impurities, and environmental residue without excessive lipid depletion or barrier disruption. A pH-balanced, non-stripping, soap-free cleanser, combined with barrier-supportive skincare, may help reduce post-wash dryness, improve tolerability, and support overall skin health in individuals with sensitive skin.[3],[4]
